He is also member of the Board of the Spain-US Chamber of Commerce in New York City and founding partner of the private equity company EDAP2007.

    Fernando was born in Barcelona in 1964. He is the CEO of Arvato, Member of the Global Executive Committee of Bertelsmann and President of Bertelsmann Spain. 

    After training as an industrial clerk at BASF Española, he studied industrial engineering in Karlsruhe. During this time, he was involved in the student organization AIESEC in Venezuela and Germany. From 1990 to 1991, Fernando was Chairman of the Board of AIESEC Germany and afterwards was AIESEC's International President for two years. Between 1982 and 1993 he also worked as a freelance sports journalist for newspapers in Spain, Austria, and Germany.

    In 1993, he joined Bertelsmann. One year later, he became Managing Director of Etrasa in Madrid (part of Bertelsmann's Professional Information unit), then in 1998 became Managing Director of Heinrich Vogel Verlag in Munich. In 1999 he was appointed to the Divisional Board of Bertelsmann Springer before moving to Barcelona two years later as Managing Director of the Círculo de Lectores book club. In 2006 he became a DirectGroup Bertelsmann board member and took over responsibility of the German and Iberian divisions. Finally, in 2008 he assumed the position of Chairman and CEO of Direct Group Bertelsmann.

    Since 2005, Fernando has also been a member of the Fundación Bertelsmann Board of Trustees in Spain.

After finishing his law studies in Basel and Madrid, he worked for large international law firms both in Spain and Switzerland. Roberto has broad experience in cross-border legal work with a particular focus on cross-border transactions and business relations between Switzerland, Spain and Latin America, in particular in the areas of M&A, corporate, IP/IT/Telecoms and Arbitration. Roberto served for almost 20 years as Vice-President and Member of the Executive Committee of the Official Swiss-Spanish Chamber of Commerce. He is a lecturer within the Masters Program in International Advocacy of ISDE Madrid and speaker at congresses and seminars dealing with international law and Swiss business law. Roberto also holds positions in the boards of BBVA (Suiza) SA bank, Zurich; Telefónica International Wholesale Services S.L.
